Messing up while talking

Postby Macha » Mon May 31, 2010 8:31 pm

Sometime that seems to be happening to me more and more lately is while speaking to someone, I will either totally forget where I am, or start saying words totally wrong. Like pronouncing gun as gone or vice versa, despite knowing that it's wrong, and trying again doesn't help.

Does anyone else notice this, and is it related to dyspraxia, or should I be getting worried?

this is not a reason to be getting worried
i do this when under loads of stress caused by being forced to be social, combined with the slight difficulties i have with talking (normally it only affects me when i try to learn new words) i can sometimes as good as loose the abilility to talk inteligably
the way i see it, dyspraxia is an extra hurdle in every race i run, but that extra hurdle, is just extra exercise, so in the end, i will come through stronger.

Saying gone for gun or bait for boat or something like that is often associated with dyslexia, but it could be a dyspraxic thing also.

I'm forever talking and then forgetting my point. Unfortunately, I always get bad marks in any debates in English!

I do it all the time, don't get worried. Though my sentences seem to come out slightly slurred, they are only pronounced right if I really try and concentrate on them.

I do this, it's very embarrassing. Things like this are why I am not a social person - not that I don't want to be social (being with friends is nice), but that I muck up my speech in embarrassing ways.

I find that when I get stressed, my breath control goes a bit funny as well - that may be a sort of semi-anxiety-attack thing, I don't know. Like, not a full-on anxiety attack but feeling lacking in oxygen and breathing faster than I should or not breathing in the right place and so running out of air. (Bla bla bla bla bla bl.... <inhale> ...a bla bla bla)

Also, as an adult (never did this as a child) when I'm anxious, I get a slight stutter.

I was recodrung my voice on the dicta phone, and boy it sounds wierd (imagine matt smith ). Of course we all hear our voices through vibrations in the skull. A sound actruly being vibrations in the air.
