dyspraxia project

Postby whizz pop bang » Mon Jun 07, 2010 8:43 am

hey guys im currently doing a project on dyspraxia and the effects of diagnosis in teenage years and child hood and whether or not people diagnosed as children cope better with their dyspraxia than people diagnosed as teenagers, i was wondering if a few of you could possibly fill out a questionaire for me to help me with my project, i will need some of you who were diagnosed as a child and some of you who were diagnosed either recently or sometime in your teenage years and only people who live in the uk for the purpose of the project only im not being discriminating against anybody who isnt living in the uk but its just a general area thing ( im confusing myself so im going to stop now)

if any of you are interested in helping me reply to this post and hopefully i will be able to somehow get the questionaire to you

many thanx guys

the way i see it, dyspraxia is an extra hurdle in every race i run, but that extra hurdle, is just extra exercise, so in the end, i will come through stronger.

I found out towards the end of primary school and was officially diagnosed at some point in secondary school. I am bad with time intervals, but I can ask my Mum for the exact dates if need be.

I am also happy to do this. When I was about 7 my primary school teacher thought I had it but I didn't have a test because my dad didn't want me to be labelled but at 14 I asked my mum to take me to be tested and got the formal diagnosis.

thank you all for your replies i didnt expect that many of you would be interested thanks a lot!!!

i will try and put it up on the forum somehow and ask you all to fill it in, its mainly open questions like when were you diagnosed and do your family understand your condition and do they support you etc. there is one question that asks about how dyspraxia has affected you socially and emotionally, it gives examples like have you ever been bullied or socially isolated by your peers because they thought you were strange or something like that..... if any questions require sensitivve information i will not tell anyone else and your submissions of the questionaire will be anonemous ( is that how you spell it?) so no one will know who wrote it ok i will try and personal message you all the questionaire as this seems the most logical way

thanks again whizz

hey guys thanks for the responces so far but unfortunatly i got told by my tutor earlier that i need 30 people for a valid sample (grrrrrrrrrrrrrr) so could you possibly please ask more of the people who use the forum and your friends to try and complete some more questionaires (i need 22 more people)

this will help me loads as im trying to find out if there is a gap of support for teens who are diagnosed with dyspraxia in their teenage years, im not saying that people who were diagnosed as children always get support when diagnosed etc. it just seems that there is a lot of speculation about dyspraxia in adolescence and adult hood which needs clearing up.

cheers
