Is dyspraxia genetic. I have dyspraxia my cousin has verbal dyspraxia my mum is certain her brother has it (undiagnosed) and a man who used to know my grandad told me he was a weirdo who never socialised and was always on his own so he might have it.
Is there any scientific evidence?
or does it run in anybody else's family?

when i was tested i was asked if there is a family history, and it does seem to run in my dads side of the family, along with dislexia.

I think it might be. My dad has autistic traits, so did his father and my mum's brother is definitely dyspraxic (we're exactly alike)

I think it does, I've got it, my brother's got it, my cousin's got it, my aunt has it and also my great grandfather.

I think it has both genetic and environmental factors. I have dyspraxia and Aspergers Syndrome. My dad has dyslexic traits, my grandmother on my dad's side is classic textbook AS although undiagnosed due to age, her sister, who is now dead, was also classic textbook AS, their father was known for being dreadfully clumsy and was always covered in cuts and bruises from tripping and bumping into stuff so he could well have been dyspraxic, my 4 cousins from one family are all dyslexic, 2 of them also have ADHD and one of them is also somewhere on the autistic spectrum and my dad's cousin displays classic symptoms of AS so I think the genetic factor came from my dad's side but there are almost certainly environmental factors in my case too-my mum;s pregnancy with me was very traumatic, I nearly died from cot death at 5 months old and I sustained a head injury to the base of the head from my brother knocking me to the floor at 7 months old. I think, in most cases of dyspraxia, genetic and environmental factors come together to cause dyspraxia in a particular person.

I'm not sure. Mental history of my family, as far back as I know.
Maternal Grandmother - Dyslexia
Maternal Great-Uncle (Grandfather's side) - Schizophrenia
It's an interesting thought... Now I have something to research this weekend!

Were not sure of anyone else in my family with it, I seem to be the only one. No one else has goe for a diagnosis, though i seem to be the only one who shows and traits.

My brother is diagnosed with it. I'm pretty sure my dad and nan have it.

Nobody in my family has it. I have searched countless times and absolutely nothing. My dad and sister do have dyslexia though.
However, mine is acquired anyway so it doesn't make a scrap of difference anyway.

My mum's been diagnosed as dyspraxic. My sister was diagnosed with "Asperger's traits". I'm diagnosed with Asperger's.

I know my Grandad had Dyspraxia.

My nan on my mum's side has a learning disability.
Mum - dyspraxia, possibly dyslexia.
Uncle - dyslexia
Other uncle - didn't do well academically but is an entrepreneur so potentially something....
On my Dad's side.
Dad - potential aspergers
All of my other uncles and aunts have autistic traits or ADHD and bipolar tendencies. Quite a few have clinical depression. I think a few of my younger cousins have ASD or ADHD.
So yeah, I think there's definitely a genetic element!
