hey guys ive noticed recently that i cant hear very well out of my right ear and i tend to annoy my parents and friends as i dont hear them speaking to me unless they attract my attention, also when i am in a crowded room full of people having conversations i cant understand the person trying to speak to me

im going to get my hearing checked and i might get a hearing aid i was just wondering if any body else has got hearing aids and what your experiences are.

cheers

I think a lot of people with dyspraxia get the crowded room thing its nothing to do with hearing more to do with being sensitive to sound, I often find as well as being in crowds I find myself being easily distracted by backround noises. Hope that helps.

my dad has a hearing aid, not me, so what i say may not be exactly correct, but ill give you what i can, and if you have questions, i will ask my dad. he will be perfectly happy to answer them.

make sure it fits properly, if it doesn't, you are unlikley to wear it. another thing that a lot of people find useful is an aid that you can adjust the volume of by yourself, rather than having to go back to where it came from to get it done. keep the batteries safe, and always have them in the same place, keeping them in the case if you have one can help. take it out at night, or for activities that involve crawling round on the ground, it may sound obvious, but a lot of people forget. keep it in the same place evry night (like i keep my glasses in my hat).

i hope this is useful, if you have any questions for me or my dad, please ask, on here, PM, MSN, facebook or email, anything. i will do anything i can.

Please wear earplugs! You don't want to damage you hearing!

My hearing has been getting a bit funny but I currently have fluid in my middle ear so hopefully once that clears up it will return. If it doesn't I will see an audiologist.

well i now have a hearing aid and i can hear sooooo much better its great!!!! and apparently my reduced hearing is not due to noise damage which is good becasue i can still play my drums but i do still wear my earplugs when playing also dizzy d i also tend to fade out things around me when im concentrating or when i dont want to listen to people lol

I have hearing aids and i love wearing them, i can hear. I was born with my hearing impairment but as i got older it got worse and worse.

if you have questions pm me.

My ear drums don't move also and i have senseneural hearing loss.

I have a mild to moderate loss in my right ear and moderate to severe loss in my left ear.

this seems a odd thing to ask but dose any one know of something like a hearing aid but makes sound Quieter, the reson that i ask is that my hearing is just to Sensitive to loud noise and it cause my ears to hurt even when everone else is fine with the noise level.

I don't think there is. Most people who have very sensitive hearing wear ear defenders when they don't want noise to bother them.

my ears are really sensetive too, i dont really like loud noise which annoys people when we're listening to the radio but in general though i always have to ask people to repeat what they are saying becasue i have a hard time processing the information they are saying, i had my hearing tested when i was younger, it was fine though.
