I do take quite a long time to get ready (after PE when I was still at school especially) but now I'm better, if I want to look nice it can take me up to an hour to get ready, I got really excited the other day because it took me 2 and a half hours to get my hair from wet, to styled and my make up on! It's my hair that takes the time, not so much the make up.
I like wearing make up, I really perks me up when I feel like I look good I feel a bit more confident and better about me. I'm actually working on becoming a make up artist as I love it so much and it's something with all my practice on me and others I've become really good at, so I have quite a lot of tips and advice for applying make up for Dyspraxic girls, and products for the feel (I'm super super touch sensitive)
I do think I probably take quite long to get ready as I'm always quite worried about what others people thing, I do try not to be because really, they don't matter, but I ask my mum, or my boyfriend about 5 or 6 times if I look okay before we can go out.

parnassus wrote:It does take me longer than average to get showered and into my clothes, but this is mostly because of my memory skills. I forget what I'm doing or get distracted. My thought process will go something like, "Pyjama shorts off, unbutton pyjama shi - ooh, breakfast! Put kettle on the boil. Now, socks. Where did I put my socks? Wander into bedroom. Oh - I must make my bed!" Because all the tasks get broken into pieces it is hard for me to finish unless I have somebody to keep nudging me.
Physically I can manage almost all of my clothes, but this because I deliberately choose things that are dyspraxic-friendly. I don't buy things with lots of buttons, for example, and all my shoes have Velcro fastenings. I don't wear makeup. I used to put on eye makeup occasionally, but I found it too difficult to apply and take off without help, so I stopped. It's too much trouble, unless it's a special occasion like a wedding.
Yes! Thank you sooo much! I have that exact same thought process but I couldn't seem to put it into words to explain it to people. But you've done that for me
Thanks you're a star
Oh and yes It takes me for ever to get ready! and then it looks like I got dressed in the dark and walked through a haystack backwards. and I often end up leaving the house with unbrushed hair. and I on week days I only shower in the evenings and I don't wear make up. Plus I'm disorganised do I don't lay things out the night before like I probably should. And I have virtually no sense of time.

I straighten and dye my hair, wear mascara, lipgloss, occaisionally eyeliner/shadow and paint my nails. It takes me about half an hour to get ready, provided I don‘t need to take a bath (8)
