Instead of P.E

Postby olivia5 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 7:13 pm

Hi,

I have posted a thread before about P.E.

My mum is talking to my SENCO tomorrow about doing something more dyspraxic friendly. I have read in a dyspraxic book that some children who had dyspraxia did ball skills with a friend. Is there any other suggestions of what i could do? or i would like to hear from people what they do instead of P.E?

Thanks

Some dyspraxic students have physiotherapy instead of P.E., but that requires having a physiotherapist, and the school being willing, and the physiotherapist being available at the right time.

Swimming is supposed to be a particularly dyspraxic-friendly form of exercise.

Well I was pulled out of P.E as I got a doctors note and I spent the time working on other schoolwork elsewhere, but that was due to CP problems and not dyspraxia. Swimming is often recommended to me as an alternative form of excercise, perhaps that could help? Doesnt help me however as I cannot swim >_>

Hi,

My SENCO is discussing this with me this week somewhen. I don't really like swimming. Is there any other dyspraxic friendly sports which could help? I know some posters did ball skills with a friend but any other suggestions?

Thank you!

I don't do P.E any more and for one P.E lesson i do pilates which is a bit like yoga, which is a lot to do with co-ordination, and challenges me but is easier than other stuff. I also do swimming.
