Special Skills?

Postby Ann Ony-Mous » Fri Apr 01, 2005 8:30 pm

Do any of you have something which you're really good at?

Some people say that I have a talent for creative writing (I hope so because I love it)

I also enjoy singing and my friends say I have a good voice. (horrible expression, 'good voice' how unimaginative!)

Notice that saying that you have no talent is NOT AN OPTION in this poll or in real life.

I am good with literature, public speaking, drama, and - I think - linguistics. I'm unsure whether you're referring to linguistics as a science (the study of language acquisition, phonetics, etc.) or to the study of foreign languages. I am quite good at both these things - I love linguistic science and I speak a fair bit of Arabic. I take A-Level French and I joined the Latin class at GCSE. Next up, Urdu, Dutch, and Polish!

Unlike you, I have a terrible voice. I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket and I am about as musical as a dead haddock. :( This is a shame, because I really love music. Still...can't have everything!

I am very good at singing - and for some reason maths and science. I have found that most people here's weak points are maths and science and so I find it strange that they are my strongest points.I did really well and got a gold medal on a challenge thing but I was away on the day the awards were sent out so I didnt get my picture in the paper. I am also quite good at drama and putting myself in someone elses shoes.

As for singing, I was selected for a kent music festival twice for a duet.

I meant foreign languages and the English language also. I love writing (in English) and enjoy language lessons at school, especially german.

Whoa! We have a dyspraxic mathematician on board!

I always knew they existed, but they certainly are rarities...

I'm very good at reading aloud.

If it's a story book, I'll act it out using lots of expression and giving all the characters different voices.

When reading out something more informative, I actually speak in a really clear voice, which is funny because I don't most of the time! Infact people from my old college said I sounded like one of those aeroplane speakers!

thanks for the maths thing. It's probably just hereditary because my dad and gran are really good at it. I lam very good at latin also. It is just really simple because you say what you see and there are no words like thought (or at least very few) where if you look at it you don't know how to pronounce it.

Our school does a Japanese Club on Tuesday lunchtime. We've learnt basic kanji script and simple short phrases like, "Arigato." They also teach us about Shinto culture - it's very interesting.[/i]

It is really hard to learn, i'm only learning the speech at the moment, the chracters look way to hard to learn! What makes it even harder is i'm teaching myself but i'm going to try and find a class to go to. Just a question: What languages can anybody else speak?

Band, playing by ear

Postby Hermionefan5 » Wed Apr 13, 2005 8:58 pm

Band. I am good at band. The beat and meter are math stuff, but it is easy math for me. I also can play by ear after hearing a tune and practicing it a to figure out the notes. 8) So far I can play parts of Jurassic Park theme, Hook theme, Star Wars theme, Harry Potter theme, and Veggie Tales theme. I know the song Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King by heart.

Shan-I-Am :D 8)
