Just out of interest, how many of you believe that your special skills are due to dyspraxia?
I believe that most purely dyspraxic people have enhanced linguistic ability, so my skill with words may have been born of the learning difficulty. And if my manner of socialising weren't slightly different from the norm, I would not spend so much of my time alone with books, and so wouldn't be such a proficient literature student.

Not really sure if my skills are due to dyspraxia or if they are just regular talents. I do think agree that there is a connection between dyspraxics and liguistic ability.

I'm also quite good with words. I think most of it is to do with the fact that I read so much.

How many of you write short stories or poems? What kind?

Right now I am working on a novel called Jody
. It is about a boy named Jody (a boy's name here in US) who is poor and living in middle class America. He is teased at school, which is something I can relate to. He loves the Chicago Bulls basketball team and he dreams of being on the high school team. He has a lot of brothers and sisters. That's all I am really going to tell as I would give it away. I also have written an Edgar Allen Poe-ish short story and a short story called New House, New Life
about a set of fraternal twins who move from Scotland to America after 9-11-01 because their dad loses his job. My youth pastor, Sam found it very interesting. I am going to be an author someday, I hope!! It is a big dream of mine that has been going on about 2 years or so. Oh, yeah, I have also written a one act play.

Then you already are an author.
Writers are born, not made. You mean you want to become a published author. I wish you every success in that. Write every day, and write about what obsesses you - this is the best advice I was ever given.
I myself can't decide which is best - reading other people's books, or writing my own. Literature is like a cult - addictive and impossible to break away from!

i am really good at public speaking if you let me make it up
if i read i fall to pieces i think that comes from being dyslexic.
i am grade 4 in speech and drama and spoken in public many times was on student council last year also.
i am a ok musican too ,play piano (grade 4) guitar, tin whistle*, piano accordan* and sing ( grade 4 too)
the * quite badly but i can still play them!
i am in the school choir we travel all over the country to perform and have won a few awards.
I speak Irish fluety i have been learning since i was 5 and i am now 17 so that is the reason for it and not that i'm good at it.
however french, japenese and any written irish seems to go over my head.
Bibliophile-that's funny i read alot ie. i have to reread books or otherwise i would run out of reading material. I would get a book in the afternoon and have it finished in the evening. But yet my vocabulary and understanding of words is quite low(a 13 year old and i am 17)
yet i can debeat with the best and express my views really wells
weird how dsylexia dsypraxia and other learning disablities effect different peple different ways
