don't worry i got re-tested about 3 weeks ago. they will test all sorts of things like how fast you write and type, spatial awairnuss, oral tests, alsorts. you'll be fine. at the end the woman collected the results and told me i had an IQ of 131, so don't worry. obviosly there will be things your not good at, but you make up for it on the rest. you'll be fine.

It's actually 10 points for WISC III. My brother is strange because he kinda fits your description.psysically he's way below average. Mentally, he somehow able to compensate.

That makes me ponder the following:

How many members here are both LD and talented/gited?

Who else has an over average IQ despite LD?

It's almost like you have to have weaknesses in order to have strength...

is being both a common phenomenon?

Hi Brainiac,

Your comments are interesting, because I've been wondering about people with learning difficulties and who appear gifted myself. It seems learning difficulties and people who are gifted/talented interlink quite frequently, and people who have learning difficulties (of any kind, not necessarily dyspraxia) often appear so talented in other areas. Dyslexic people are thought to have very good visual spatial ability and many excel at things such as art, sport, music and drama; all of which require creativity and imagination.

I haven't had my IQ tested formally, although I did do an internet test, in which I scored 122 (slightly above average) although you know what the internet's like, it could be rubbish! The fact that I also had unlimited time while doing a test over the internet must also be considered.

Judging by the quality of the language used - especially by some of the younger users - I'd say quite a few. I came in the top five in the country for my English Literature GCSE (there were half a million candidates taking AQA's paper) got full marks on an Advanced Extension Award, and took the A-Level Literature exam a year early. I teach myself two other A-Level subjects, and (so far!) have got full marks on all the modules. I am severely dyspraxic.

(The above paragraph sounds horribly boastful, so to even it out...I am a terrible mathematician and can barely add up.)

Mine is 155.

It's almost like you have to have weaknesses in order to have strength...

I would agree with that. No one can be perfect.

is being both a common phenomenon?
