In symptom lists, it says that people with Dyspraxia can be prone to obsessions. What obsessions have you had?
In my early years, I was an incredibly strange little girl and was obsessed with things that made no sense. I would constantly inform people that 'Tees no dasses' Translation: Trees don't wear glasses. I was about three or four at the time and I'm not sure whether I thought of trees and plants as being humans if I gave them a human feature, or if I was just being plain ridiculous.
At nursery age, I had a fantastic time gently headbutting every lamp post I saw. I had one friend who thought it looked fun and decided to copy.
At infant school (reception in particular), when children wanted to play something they'd form a line going 'Who wants to play...' At the time I thought that was a good idea but I didn't play with anyone so everyday I roamed around the playground going 'Who wants to play yellow pizza?' Don't ask
I did this until I found good friends to play with.
I used to be so indecisive that I would 'ip dip doo' everything including what I should wear (often ended up with something which didn't go!
) and what bit of food I should eat next. I still do this when deciding which book I should read next.
They were all my funny obsessions. I still had obsessions after infant school but they were normal ones. I don't normally follow fashion, but when there was the Spice Girls craze, I passinately joined in with that and brought a lot of there merchandise. From the ages of 8-14, there were a few programmes I religiously watched.
At 17, I don't really have any obsessions now, just habits.
