In Saudi Arabia we get a fizzy drink called Mirinda, which I love. Also, if you walk into town to the Jews Bar, you can buy 'all different kinds of fruity jews'.

(Arabic spelling is phonetic...English spelling is not...the sign-writer evidently made a mistake.)

Wow! Strangely enough, I heard a similar joke a few days ago, made by a Jewish comedian:
"There are many sections within the Jewish tradition: Hasidic Jews, Liberal Jews, Orange Jews, Apple Jews..."

Returning to the original subject, do you need any other homework help?

homework help

Postby sophie » Wed Nov 09, 2005 8:37 am

Thanks for the offer of help, I will keep it in mind. I have to do this survey so that I can do a tally chart. The trouble is I only go to school for 1 hour a day and don't get out much so I don't see many people to ask.(by the way only going for an hour a day isn't luxury - I get loads of work to do at home. When I do go to school I have a tutor with me at all times. Boring!)

I've never heard of a Marinda. I had to look it up on the internet. My mum eats so many bananas my dad says she's going to turn into a monkey.

Penguins are also beautiful. I want to stroke one - they look like they'd feel sleek and smooth to the touch.

That reminds me of a conversation I had with my friend Anna when I was feeding the ducks:

VICKY (dreamily): Oh, they're so lovely and quacky! I want to pick up a duck and cuddle it.

ANNA (equally dreamily): I want to pick up a duck...and cook it.

Are you home educated, Sophie?

hi

I had a home tutor for an hour a day but now I go to school for an hour, with my tutor unless I'm not well. Then I get homework that my mum helps me with. My mum and dad used to know someone who wanted to be a penguin-picker-upper in the Falklands! That comes from a joke that the penguins watch the planes fly over head and fall over backwards, then someone would have to go round picking them up.

A penguin-picker-upper?! You have just opened up a whole new career path to me...

I've never known anyone with your kind of schooling arrangements before. It sounds an interesting way of educating people with special needs. I hope you're enjoying it.
