I'm doing pass maths for my Leaving Cert
(kinda like the english a levels but the irish leaving cert you have to do english, irish, maths, french or german, and then 3 or more options mine are music home ec and biology)

I'm ok at it. But what drives me mad is I alway forget how to do the maths if i dont keep going over then (which i don't have time to do)
I end up making up my own methods of doing them (most of the time i get the right answer) but afterwords i cant tell how or why i did some thing

I was confuse my maths teachers.

I always keep questioning them and it takes a while for me to learn new methods(which i will forget in 2/3 months-but it is easier to relearn them then to learn them )

I have my own way of understanding maths what confuses people and that i can't explain. For explain my class were asked to get the area of a set of stairs. everyone else did it one way I did it a totally different confusing way that i couldn't explain and got the right answer. My teacher didn't know how i did it.

Yeah, I do that too

Vicky and Phil thanks for your messages of support about my maths GCSE. I didn't see them earlier, sorry

I am feeling a lot more positive about maths now. I didn't need a 'C' grade for my course I just wanted it as an extra. If I get it (which does not look likely but like you both said there is always hope) that is great but if not at least I've tried. I took the foundation paper at school which only allowed me to get a 'D' grade as the highest and I wanted to see if I could achieve higher when doing the intermediate paper. Whatever happens, I do think my maths skills have improved this last year and I can always retake again sometime in the future.

I'm doing A-Level maths and most of the time I find it pretty easy but I frequently muddle numbers and letters. I frequently see and write particular numbers instead of particular letters and vice versa without even noticing I'm doing it. Looking back at my old AS-Level notes I had written 3s instead of v's the entire way through without knowing I had. In reply to what parnassus said though, this could be due to my Dyslexia or Dyspraxia too.

Oddly enough, I have no pronounced difficulty with maths, and actually score above average in numeracy tests. I am dreadful at geometry in any shape or form but my number skills are not bad. I am mildly interested in maths, but much prefer English.
