What new things have you learned today?

Postby Remus » Tue Nov 03, 2009 9:17 pm

I though this would be a interesting topic to do. Referring to that saying: "You should learn one new thing everyday", I was wondering what has everyone else learned today?

I was watching a bit of Who Wants to be a Millionaire and this one question came up where it asked what is a treecreeper? I personally thought it was a beetle or a lizard but in the end, it turned out to be a bird which shocked me. What a funny name for a bird.

What did everyone else learn today? GIVE ME YOUR KNOWLEDGE!

Wow, I didn't know that Kerri. That's pretty amazing.

Man, you've got a lot of work, Brian. The maths sounds very confusing.

Through the wonder that is Google, I found out it's the 20th Anniversary of Wallace and Gromit. To be honest, I thought they had gone longer than that.

I found out just how poor quality some of the "meat" products on sale in the UK are. I watched "Britain's Really Disgusting Foods" on IPlayer-truly shocking!

You wouldn't want to watch the videos we had to watch in Animal Welfare then on the meat industry, just awful.

Today we learned all about the kidneys and urine which was pleasant. :P

I've been learning to play the chord of F using a bar-chord version of F during my guitar lessons the past couple of weeks.

When my economics teacher refers to a question as a pass question in a class test, he actually means for both pass and honours students to do it (lost 20% that way, have a new teacher this year).

I was just surfing the net just looking up random things and found out something quite interesting. You know Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the old film, 1971 with Gene Wilder in it), I was looking it up and found out that the exterior shots for the factory were actually filmed at the Munich Gaswerks which I found cool and some of it is still there today, take a look:

The other week I learned how to recognize an adder from your common grass snake. Info which may come in handy one day!
