If scientists were able to clone human beings, it would be a huge scientific advancement :) I dont really believe in God so I dont think that creating life is down to a specific being- it just happens; its natrual. I think if ppl are able to do it, it should be at least tryed beofre it is dismissed. Think of the sceintific benifits!

I really dislike the idea also as syou said everyone is unique and thats deffinately for a rreaspon.

I don't think that whole human cloning is a good idea. It makes me think of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. A bad idea because ppl can use clones for bad reasons and it would take the uniqueness out of life. That's very bad!!

But I do agree with organ cloning because that can help many people out in the long run. For instance, many people I know are type-1 diabetic and their pancreases don't work right. If there was cloning of organs or stem cells, at least, then they could have a more normal type of life. But, then, maybe that's the beauty of uniqueness...As you can see I am on the border... Good for some things, bad for others. There are always pros and cons to everything and, as my teacher Mr. Hallahan always says, "for every decision we make, we must accept the consequences, good or bad."

Cloning someone doesn't create an exact copy of them as the environmental factors they face will be different and will more than likely have an entirely different personality etc.

Also the cloning of animals that has been done so far has shown that these animals are more likely to suffer from the diseases of old age earlier. For example Dolly the sheep suffered arthiritis at a younger age than the sheep she was cloned from and also suffered i think it was a lung defect. I think that scientists think that this is because the cell genetic information is an "old" set and has been reproduced many times during cell division and may also have altered due to specialisation of cells whereas cells created in normal reproduction are stem cells that have the ability to change into anything else. Also the cell that is taken may have genetic mutations that affect the cloned animal.

I do not think that human cloning of a whole person is right. I think that the creation of organs using stem cells would be a very useful thing not just for transplants but also for research. However as stem cells only come from embryos there is some debate about this but I think they've found a way to take a few cells without killing the embryo. To get this right for transplants could lead to a form of designer babies as they would need organs that wouldn't be rejected by the person receiving the transplant but this can also be done by close family (a while ago there was quite a bit on tv about families who had children especially in order to take bone marrow from them for their already alive children who had a illness that i've forgotten, although taking stem cells is a different process)

Alas! Everyone is looking at the science and no-one can see the morals and beliefs right in your faces! I do not believe in cloning because it is not natural, it's weird, it's dangerous, it's not logical, it's not meant to happen and humans would mess it up just like we do everything else that passes into our destructive hands. Life is precious and not something we humans should meddle with. Why must we meddle into things that are fragile, pure, untouched and not to be meddled in at all?
Things that cross the path of us humans are rarely in one piece or in a healthy state afterwards! I am against cloning!
