Thought this would be intresting. While Gordon Brown is trying to get us to be more british rather than English, Scottish or Welsh .Do you consider your nationallaty to be British or English, Scottish or Welsh?

I dont really see myself as British. If you asked my nationallity i would say im Scottish.

For reasons which are obvious on another forum, I voted no too :D.

It's an interesting poll - I will be following with great interest.

I didn't vote, as I don't think it is contradictory to consider yourself both British and English. England is a part of Britain, just as Spain is a part of Europe. You can call yourself European without losing your Spanishness. I am proud to be English and British.

I'd say I'm English, because That's the part of Britain I'm from. But I think I see your point, Vicky.

I dont concider it to be contridictory at all. If you were abroad and someone asked your nationallty would you identify yourself as British or English? Spain is an intresting example but spain isnt made up of 3 constituant states as such although there is some form of devolution between the regions. National identity is diffrent between the spanish regions and the constituant states of Britain. Spain is considered one state in Europe the UK is the union between countries in Europe.

I agree with Irish emz when England win something sporting or otherwise then it is English when any of the other nations win then all of a sudden it is British. By the way I dont hate the English Welsh or Irish I think I have relatives everywher in Great Britain I am also proud to be Scottish.

I do not hate any nation i.e England, Wales, N.I. or Ireland.

Think Andy and Irish_emz made a very good point about victories. Look at Andy Murray the tennis player (im not a fan for vairious reasons) .. when he is doing well hes British but when he was loosing he became Scottish again as it washighlighted on the news.
