Political Orientation

Postby Henri » Fri Nov 16, 2007 10:41 pm

I thought that I'd create the opportunity for everyone to state their political orientation in clear terms, with no references to specific political parties. Obviously, if you feel inclined to state the party to which you are allied, please do so, but alot of people prefer to keep such information private.

Personally, I occupy a position on the centre-left; not a full socialist, but a reformist, seeking nationalisation of vital industry, equality of opportunity, and welfare to those who hold a genuine requirement for it. As for economics, I perceive the Laessez Faire system - with elements of Keynesianism - as essentional. I do realize just how difficult it is to adhere to the 'Third Way' ideology, but, I think that the current Labour party must be commended for their efforts in this respect. They have successfully integrated most - but not all - vital elements of socialism and capitalism into their core system of governance.

I'd say my political orientation is central Left, similar to Henri.

In the next election, I'll probably vote either for the Monster Raving Loony Party, or if a Labour seat is in a narrow margin Labour.

I think I'm centre-left, but it's a little hard for me to know for sure.

Basically, I'm three squares up from the intersection on the left edge of the blue quadrant, very close to Romano Prodi.

I presume it's to do with age and idealism, or perhaps we are all people who genuinely care about the wider social interest.

Hmm, interesting, I predict that we could have some interesting debates, Mr.Trotsky.
