A chatroom is open to abuse and is more difficult for admin to monitor effectively, for the safety and well being of sometimes vulnerable users. Therefore we made the decision to remove the chatroom and just focus on funding and maintaining the forum.

I hope that the above explains the reasoning for no chatroom and no intention of one.

Many thanks,
Helen

Thank you.
That was the answer I was looking for.
A answer with a reason behind it.
Anyhow, any more opinions?

I prefer the forum to a chatroom.

Please can everyone stop correcting other people's grammar. This is a forum for people with learning disabilities. Of course people make mistakes. Lots of dyspraxics are also dyslexic.

*Cough* Good Opinions *Cough* w/ reasons *Cough*

Hi Guys,

We did have a chat room at one point, but to be honest it was a bit of a novelty that wore off and people gravitated here instead.

Monkey boy and Brian:

In your baskets! Cage! Bed! Stop scrapping! LEAVE IT! *puts on very firm and authoritative voice*

Monkey boy: Some users here have issues such as dyslexia, and others just have poor fine motor skills, so quit on the backseat modding of the grammer, this is a forum where you can just post and make new friends, and is predominantly used for supporting eachother. Spelling doesn't matter here, it is possible to make a good quality post without being a A* English student ;) Its a board that is fairly informal and we don't backseat mod here. There isn't any real heirachy apart from Helen, Matt, Darren and Vicky who are in charge of running the forums and are there to calm things down in the rare occassion a spat breaks out and they offer great support to those in need, as do all of our members. I suppose in this post I will be deemed guilty of BM but hey ho. Welcome to the boards by the way, hope you enjoy it here. I look forward to hearing more about you- this post isn't meant to be bossy but just clarify how things work here.

Hope this helps. :)

Yep. Im just waiting to get my name changed to Grammar Nazi.

But I do that, because if you don't, people get more and more careless, and two years later..

This will happen as a welcome:

Monkey Boy, like Brian said, we have all gave your sufficient reasons to why we don't have a chatroom. If you don't like how things are run on here then sorry but tough luck, I'm afraid things aren't going to change just to suit one person who suddenly comes long wanting change. And like Ruby said, please stop correcting people's grammar.

Hey hey hey guys. Yeah, he is gulity of BM and wanting change, but he's allowed to have an opinion and allowed to give feedback on the boards, just like the rest of us :) He may be new, but so what- he might come up with a decent idea one day- I didn't know people weren't allowed to have ideas until they reached a specific post count. Well if there is such rule, no one told me! Brian, don't rise to it, I know you have trouble dealing with this sometimes but sometimes its better to just *walk away* and leave people to it- I should know, I have the same problem in real life :).

Kicking the confrontational stuff aside, lets welcome him :)

Monkey Boy, whilst your intentions are good, insulting members is not a good strategy, but we're forgiving.

Also Brian, you were not exactly completely fair either. Telling Monkey Boy to get lost is a bit strong and probably didn't help with his reaction.

I am fair, I was nice telling him with my first post that a chatroom, was tried and it failed. Then he went on and said "Try it again" at which point I told him to get lost.

I think me telling him to get lost is justified because Monkey is not accepting the fact that there will not be a chatroom.

It's never fair to just insult somebody unprovoked. Failure is not a reason to never try something again. It doesn't matter anyway. Just trying to be more tactful in the future and we'll all get on fine. :)

Thank you.

And as the first poster said, (Bcopper) if we use MSN as our "Chatroom", where it's one - one conversations, then why not use chatrooms which could hold many people, and have more features, moderating, etc.

1. Because it would be a lot of work for Helen and Darren.
2. Because it's hard to process conversations with many people.
3. Because it would use up bandwidth.
4. Because old posts wouldn't be available as a resource like they are on the forum.

1. Because it would be a lot of work for Helen and Darren. I can make one
2. Because it's hard to process conversations with many people. Dosen't have to use these servers
3. Because it would use up bandwidth. True that... True that...
4. Because old posts wouldn't be available as a resource like they are on the forum. Press Prt Scr :)

Monkey boy, if you want to waste your money on a chatroom that will get limited use then that's up to you but it's very unlikely any of us will use it.

Done.

Of course, tags are needed.

Ten bucks says i'm going to get flamed.

Use it if you want. Use it to compliment or flame the idea. I just think it would be better than MSN in the first place.
