Memory

Does anyone have memory problems, especially to do with speech? For example, I sometimes completely forget what I've just been told. Also, I like to tell people facts, but often they tell me that I have told them already (I like reading 'random' facts: Every bone except the inner ear bone has been broken in a skiing accident; No fatalities in boxing before the introduction of gloves). Also, my lefts and rights: I cannot remember them, although I'm not sure if this is memory or that I'm just not good at the 'L' trick (where you make your thumb and index finger perpendicular to each other, and where there is an L it is your left hand). However, I can remember certain things quite well. For example, I know that any car with a metallic licence plate (the black ones with silver or white lettering) are only legal on cars built before Jan. 1, 1973, and I notice certain things, because I can pick out any diplomatic car whilst in the car (three numbers, then a D, then three more numbers: I think the first three numbers are a country code). Is there any way to remember things that aren't to do with strings of information which is ultimately irrelevant to what I actually need to remember?

im exactly the same, i can only remember left and right by the fact that my right has a lot more scars, i dont tell people randome facts, i will only answer if questioned as i dont like to bother people with repetitaveness. but i notice and remember pointless little details - when i was learning to drive, my instructor had a go at me for noticin the car behind us had a trade plate.
i find the only way to remember some things is repetition - normally  writing it loads of times, it hurts, but it gets the message through. most things saying it over and over again at one time helps

I remember loads of random facts and I can remember conversations that took place years ago verbatim-that freaks people out a bit when I can tell them the exact words they said in a trivial conversation that took place 5 years ago and that they have now forgotten. I've never had problems with left and right but I can't find my way around even very familiar places without written directions and labelled landmarks on a piece of paper. My mum always gets annoyed that I can remember little things I have read on Wikipedia but not how to fill in a paying in slip for the bank. I have to write things down to remember appointments or even simple things such as which day to change my socks. The only thing then is making sure you don't lose the piece of paper the reminders are written on!

I always pour out a good few random facts, In fact a lot of those apply to me also!, Though after several years of practice I can now tell my left from right. My mum always used to say which hand do you hold your pencil in. I couldn't remember. But know I got a watch on my left hand its easy.

I'm actually a bit worried about my memory like on Wednesday I actually forgot that I'd left my P.E top on under my shirt like 2 minuets before hand and I usually have to think quite hard about things to remember them

One time I went up the stairs to get an Item from my room. By the time I had got up the stairs I had forgotten what I was meant to be getting. (Somebody talked to me while I was going up the stairs  ).

i use my inner arm as a notepad, its very hard to loose, but dont use your hand as if you wash it after using the bathroom, it will come off.

I noticed this recently as well. Only...my memory is random. I can remember whole song lyrics (for example, i can rap Eminem - Not Afraid, or Space bound, word for word), but i tend to forget something i was told very recently. For instance, last night walking home, im 2 minutes away from my door. My mate asks my to text him when i get in.

I didnt remember until lunch today  And i planned to watch mock the week today today after hearing it was on 20 minutes beforehand. Come 10, i turn over to a random movie instead and switched on my music. :P

And i tend to forget things i've said to people before, and end up repeating myself a lot.
