I don't know if anyone else has this but I find drama to be a huge help with coping with my dyspraxia.I first joined a drama club in primary school and since then my confidence has shot up, I've been in two of the school productions now, singing and even dancing on stage and in front of crowds. The confidence it's given me is unbelievable, I actually find myself having the odd polite conversations with strangers, something that never would have happened before. I'm hoping to join the youth academy at my local theatre in September as well. I strongly advise everyone here to try drama, it helped me and it could help you to. I've never once looked back and it's help me so much, it's defenatly worth a try.

I used to attend a local drama club when I was in primary school and I found the role play aspect of it really helped with my social skills (I am autistic as well as dyspraxic).

I used to do drama as well both when I was in junior school which I found really enjoyable as i made me feel more confident and when I did it about a year ago at a local performing arts class. i really enjoyed the most recent drama classes particularly when we did a play at the end of the Importance of Being Earnest :) I think it has helped me grow in confidence and gives you an opportunity to mix with people you would not necessarily mix with and now I am more confident in terms of plucking up the courage to say hello to maybe accquaintances when I pass them on the street whereas before I would freeze up and not talked to them.

I'm glad you enjoy drama and that it helps you with your confidence. :) Personally I hate it as a subject! :P

I love drama so much im actually taing it for GCSE because when i get on stage or in a drama lesson im am suddenly confident. i talk and joke with people (which is something i never do) i get along better with people in my drama lessons and when i get frustrated i sort of thrash around and make ahhhhh noises (people often find this funny, which i dont mind) which is more accepted in drama. the only thing that bothers me is the stress, as i dont do well with stress because i tend to just cry and then i dont learn my practice my lines. :?
