I know this sounds awful, but I genuinely am sick of this.
How many kids that aren't photogenic and from white middle-class families get killed or go missing every day, yet we all focus on one missing girl.
Sure her killer/abductor needs to be brought to justice, but she is no more or less important than any other kid.
The money offered on rewards, and spent so far on this campaign could have been used to help kids, not take part in a search for one girl, sure, a precious girl, but no more so than any other.

I genuinely am not sure-when all this first started, I would have definitely said they were innocent but now there are niggling doubts in the back of my mind.

i really don't know. but i do disagree with the idea that the media shouldn't be covering this. after all, isn't it a good idea if your child is missing to get wide coverage? i do agree that the public can be overly sentimental about things like this but i really do hope that her abductor is brought to justice and if excessive coverage helps this then i'm all for it.

I am deeply unsure about this. It is a strange case, possibly one of the strangest ever publicized, and the conclusion is inevitably going to be no less of a confused circumstance. However, there is something extremely strange about the way Gerry Mcann acts within the media storm they have built up around them. He seems almost too calm, whereas anyone else would be deeply emotional if their daughter had gone AWOL.

I have absolutely no idea what could have happened there, her parents may have done it, on the other hand they may not. Not having enough information on the topic means I will not be sure, but I believe the Portuguese police are sound.

We should not indulge in speculation about this. We don't have access to all the evidence. We are not the police.
Whether the McCanns are innocent or guilty, our speculation will not help Madelaine at all.

Lots of young people become 'just another face in the crowd', from day one I have personally believed her parents have a lot more and know a lot more than they want to or the press choose to report on, the manipulation of the press has been shocking both by the McCann's but also the way the press have manipulated by the press.

I wanted to be sick when I saw photo's in the press this week that had been shot deliberatly at request by the McCann's to show them back home in the UK with their twins, yet if Maddie has been abducted it seems too 'perfect' for me to digest, why take a elder child who will have memories of what her life once was and leave younger siblings, logic would suggest that to take the younger two who would know no difference would of made more sense.

Far too many questions in my head by all of this, not enough answers by far, the parents know more or have more to offer as do the press / what the press know and what they choose to report to the public are two differnt things, all that is clear facts is another youngster is at the moment a 'face in the crowd' and there are too many questions that have no answers.

As long as justice is sought, but in the 4 months since Maddie went missing a lot more youngsters have gone that have never had their name mentioned by anyone other than those close to them, so why choose Maddie to feature? when their are countless youngsters every day accross the globe who surely deserve the same coverage as Maddie.

Sorry guys I am getting angry so going ot shut up.

I personally believe her parents to be completely innocent and my heart goes out to them. At the end of the day, a little girl is still missing and I personally don't think it's a nice idea to gossip about it.

This is a very sensitive poll, I think. I'm not going to vote.

We only see and hear what the press want us to see- so it's not my place to make it up because i know how easily the press can insinuate and simulate ideas and influence our judgments- but sadly not much would suprise me in this world nowdays-either way.

Not all, I think the ethos behind it might be skewed, but not the people

i think the way so many people have self-righteously pointed the finger at the mcanns without due evidence is incredibly nasty.

Not meant to be gossiping...just geniunly wanted to know peoples opinions :)

I myself am pretty positive that they are inocent- 3 years ago a 7 year old girl went missing from the same place. The portugese police convicted her mum...tortured her, but they never found the body.

I personally think this is way too much of a coincidence that the same thing may be happening to the McCans- did you notice as soon as the UK police force went accross, they immediatly were finding evidence of where she could be, whereas the portugese police didn't find anything that could seriously be described as evidence- I think they are trying to point a finger to them, like they did before with the other little girls mum. I guess in portugal, if the police don't make enough effort to find her, its easier to point the finger to the parents and try and make people murderers by pressurizing them to confess things they didn't do.

What people are starting to do because of this- are forgetting there is a little girl out there that needs to be found.

Also, by conincidence we needed to make a multimedia project on a recent news story today- Me and my best friend had half the class in tears:

Not meant to be a gossip topic, but I wanted to see if I'm not just being niaeve and falling for a sob story that no-one believes. Oviously this isn't the case.
