Hello

Postby Joyjoy » Sat Aug 22, 2009 2:12 am

Hello everyone! I hope that it is okay that I am on this forum. I just found out that my daughter has dyspraxia. I am learning about it to know how to help my daughter. I hadn't been able to pin point her LD. I have searched and the school has tested her for different things, but there hasn't been a direct diagnoses. Last night, I did some more digging and here I am. I am so glad that I finally know how to help her. It is such a huge relief. I want to learn from you all too, and that is why I am here. My daughter is amazing! I am so proud of her! :)

She says that she wants to, so more than likely she will use this name.

Hiya! I'm Steph and I'm 22. I have both dyspraxia and Aspergers Syndrome. I live in Surrey in south east England and I work as a support worker in a residential school for children with severe and complex epilepsy and other neurological and physical disabilities. It is very challenging but I enjoy it and I am getting better at it now! I love animals (I have 3 cats at home), the Internet, learning about other cultures and languages, reading and listening to music. I hope you enjoy the boards :D

Welcome to the forum. How old is youer daughter?

Probably the easiest way to get a diagnosis is to ask the SENCo at her school to arrange an Ed. Psych. appointment, but if the SENCo is unhelpful, ask your GP to send her top a clinical psychologuist for assessment.
