Summer birthdays linked to dyspraxia?

Postby kat95 » Fri Jul 13, 2012 8:30 pm

I noticed a while ago that quite a few people I know who have some sort of learning difficulty whether it is dyspraxia or dyslexia have summer birthdays eg July, August.
I was just wondering who else here has a summer birthday, I might be completely wrong with the link but I was just curious as I was born in August :)

I was born in december.

It is hard to believe a generalisation like that because Dyspraxia / Dyspraxic traits are more common than people think.

I was born in February so I'm a winter baby although mine's acquired so it doesn't really count.

I'm a summer baby too (August). I think it's an interesting idea - I've heard that summer borns tend to do less well at school than winter borns, one possible reason being that (in England at least) if you're born in the summer you are only just four when you start school, while if you're born in the winter you're nearly 5, nearly a whole year older.

I was born in November, but I was rather premature (which I've heard can cause dyspraxia anyway)

More people are born in summer in general, so of course more people with learning disabilities will be born in summer also.
