art and society

Postby littlelissie » Fri Nov 09, 2012 10:54 pm

I'm doing a degree in animation and illustration and as part of it i have to do an essay and i've chosen the specific topic of artists as activists and agents of social change

how much of an impact do you think art can have and what forms do you think are most effective?
what would you class as activism in an art context?
do you know of any artists who inspire change in society?

if you're interested, check out for starters, she's a very talented, influential artist :)

can't wait to hear your thoughts!!

One artist I can think of who inspired change in society is Banksy. His art is in a different format than most art, but it works because it is more public and he really addresses a range of social issues in his work.
