AGGGHHH. i CANT BELIEVE THIS GUY. swearing but please read.

I CANT frowning BELIEVE THIS ASSHOLE I SWEAR TO GOD WHEN I FIND THIS GUY. I should explain, i have been a huge fan of webcomics since they were still small i have sat and watched and smiled as they have progressed to quite a large underground media. i love that its an independant media and that the Artist and /or cartoonist is not exploited and butt fucked for money same as tere fans who are treated like friends by some alot of them. who are more than happy to have fans.

AND NOW THE CORPARATE ASSHOLES HAVE COME SNOOPING AROUND LOOKING FOR FAST MONEY.

Recently drunk duck webcomics sold itself to Platinum Studios.
http://platinumstudios.com/news/article.php?article=138

Read the link it had little gems like:

"We're tearing down the wall" that has separated traditional printed comic books from those emerging online, he said. "We completely believe in this model."

In the words of penny arcade http://www.penny-arcade.com/

"If they want to break down the walls that keep artists from publishing online, well, I hope they brought a wall with them, because we don't really have anything like that here. I suppose we could special order."

Tell you what heres the whole penny arcade article:

"Platinum Studios, whose chairman Scott Rosenberg has something of a history in the print comics industry, is now - according to the New York Times - going to dip his tip into the moist world of webcomics. The most savory quotable goes:

"We want to make a statement that it is safe to do this, that people can do this."

Good, because as it stands only rabid weasels are reaping the benefits of digital distribution - it's about time human beings got into the game. It's either a statement of profound naivete or profound hubris. Saying that you're going to make the web a place for comics is like suggesting that you plan to colonize the Earth. If they want to break down the walls that keep artists from publishing online, well, I hope they brought a wall with them, because we don't really have anything like that here. I suppose we could special order.

This definitely has a "gold rush" feeling to it, and it's far from over. There is so much excellent work being done online and then being parceled out for practically nothing that it was only a matter of time before the city slickers caught wind of our potent local sauce. When they - and Platinum may prove more benevolent than the shadow lords in their wake - when they come for your life's work, at least try to negotiate visiting rights."

And heres the comic about it

So heres to what might be the end of webcomics as it was.
It is a sad day for me. i hope that someone stops this travesty soon.
