Just over an hour from now it will be the turn of the Parnassian creature, represented by this imposing-looking owl. I have an exam in practical criticism. It is the paper I am feeling the most confident about. As I see it, this means it could go two ways:
1.) The paper is a delight to write and I come out in high spirits, possibly singing a merry tune (and then getting into trouble with the college authorities for breaking the rules of the Quiet Period with my discordant voice);
2.) The paper is much more difficult than anticipated and I come out in a state of alarm about the exams that I'm not so confident about, ready to chew off the heads of unsuspecting passers-by and to generally be grumpy at every opportunity.
My friend David has just commented, "I feel sorry for David. Either he has to put up with a discordant Vicky, or he has to cope with a grumpy Vicky who bites his head off."
(And no, I don't know why he speaks about himself in the third person either.)
